Incredible changes took place on the ship. Lives were transformed through faces made whole, legs made straight, scars removed. The patients were exceptional people, full of love and acceptance. When they realize that they are not alone, and that their face does not define their worth- that is the moment.
There will never be anything like watching a momma whose baby has a cleft lip walk into a room and see other babies just like hers. Other babies that have had lips sewn back together. And nurses who act as if they have never seen a baby more beautiful. Because we haven't.
